There’s something special about an intimate dinner - soft candlelight, a beautifully set table, and a carefully prepared meal shared with someone you love. At The Old Vicarage, we see romance in the details, from the way a table is dressed to the thoughtful touches that make a moment feel unforgettable. This Valentine’s Day, we're helping you to deliver a little bit of that magic to your own home with a menu to inspire and simple ideas to elevate your evening.

Much like a wedding tablescape, your dining space should feel considered but effortless. A linen tablecloth, a few tapered candles, and a scattering of seasonal flowers - perhaps deep red roses or soft blush ranunculus - can transform even the simplest setting. Our Spotify Wedding Playlist and a good bottle of Vicarage House wine to complete the atmosphere, get in touch to order your wine for collection.

The Menu: Elegant Yet Uncomplicated

Designed with balance in mind, this menu is indulgent without being overly complex, allowing you to enjoy the evening rather than spending it in the kitchen.

Aperitif: Sparkling Wine or Espresso Martini

Start the evening with a glass of chilled sparkling wine - classic, effortless, and perfect for the occasion. If you prefer something with a little more character, an Espresso Martini is a sophisticated alternative, combining vodka, coffee liqueur, and freshly brewed espresso for a smooth yet energising start to the night.

Starter: Baked Camembert with Honey & Thyme

Simple but luxurious. A whole camembert, baked until molten, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with fresh thyme. Serve with warm sourdough for dipping.

Main: Pan-Seared Fillet of Beef with Truffle Mash & Red Wine Jus

A classic pairing. Tender fillet steak, cooked to preference, alongside creamy truffle-infused mashed potato and a rich red wine jus. Serve with buttery green beans or roasted tenderstem broccoli.

Dessert: Dark Chocolate Fondant with Vanilla Ice Cream

An understated but indulgent way to finish - dark chocolate fondant with a melted chocolate centre. Best served with vanilla ice cream.

The Finishing Touches

Beyond the food, it’s the small details that make an evening feel special - whether it’s burning our signature scent incense, a handwritten note placed on the table, a favourite shared memory, our beautifully embossed illustration, or simply the effort made to create a moment away from the usual routine.

Whether it’s your first or your tenth Valentine’s, from all of us at The Old Vicarage, we hope your celebration - whether grand or understated - is filled with love and good company. Be sure to share this with your significant other.
